The 130-acre estate contains two ring forts dating from pre Christian times and a mote inside which Anglo Norman knights built a wooden fortress to protect the territory wrested from the hands of the native Irish.

A round at Rathcore Golf & Country Club is something special. The sculptured course is a place of natural undulating beauty. Enhanced by a tree lined horizon of oak and furze then punctuated by six stone lined spring water lake lets. The charm and special ambience of the course has been crafted in rapport with nature to provide a unique challenge to every standard of golfer.

The clubhouse overlooks the 18th green and 1st fairway, providing commanding vistas over the whole course. The design draws inspiration from the ring forts or Raths located on the course and the utilisation of materials such as timber, thatch and natural stone keeping it in harmony with the surroundings.

Relax in the comfortable surroundings of the rooftop restaurant and enjoy the fine cusine on offer. The bar stocks a huge range of wine, spirits and soft drinks, making  it perfect way to relax after a good day's golf.

Rathcore Golf & Country Club:

• Take the Summerhill / Rathmolyon road on the west side of Enfield

• Take the first road to the left

• Take the first road to the right

• Travel along this road for about a mile and take the left turn for Rathcore village

• The golf club is a few hundred yards on the right
