The subtle land movement naturally found at Moyvalley is the canvas on which the course is designed. The design philosophy is to make sure that it is challenging for the leading professionals from the back tees but also playable and enjoyable from the forward ones for amateurs. The shaping and moulding of the course is accented with bolder arrangements, found in the creation of naturalistic bunkering complexes on both the fairway and the greenside. These bunkers replicate the expansive landscape of Moyvalley. Intricate noses, deep fingers and soft slopes characterise the appearance of the bunkers. The planting of fescue grasses within the bunkers give the outer edges a more natural scraggy appearance.

The landing areas from the tee are generous up to the 250 yard distance mark. Over that length, drives are definitely challenging and the need for accuracy is of vital importance. Large greens with subtle slopes place the emphasis on an accurate approach from the fairway with careful line and length putting required. All putting surfaces have been sewn with the most recent USPGA specification creeping bent grass A4 G6.
