Golf Courses

Founded in 1945 Balbriggan Golf Club, located just 15 minutes from Dublin Airport and just off the M1 motorway, is now among the premier parkland courses in Leinster.

Balbriggan Golf Club has undergone major redevelopment in the last couple of years which has seen the course redesigned by Eddie Connaughton with USGA standards and based greens and tee boxes. The newly developed course has been open for play since June 2009. The blend of mature trees and newly designed water hazards, which come into play on seven holes, give an intriguing character to the course and provides golfers with variety and a challenging round.

The Pro shop is run by Nigel Howley, PGA Professional, who offers lessons on all aspects of the game and is a Qualified Mizuno and Ping Custom fitter. [More...]

Balcarrick was originally founded in 1972 under the name of Dublin & County Golf Club. The club changed its name in 1992 to Balcarrick Golf Club and moved to its current location. The course was initially designed by Barry Langan, recently re-developed by Roger Jones and is a magnificent and challenging 18 hole Par 73 golf course, measuring over 6800 yards. Each hole has it's own particular feature and proves a stern test for even the most accomplished golfer. Strategically placed bunkers and water hazards ensure that high levels of accuracy and skill are required to achieve a 'championship' score. Balcarrick is an ECO friendly club where tradition abounds.

Balcarrick golf club is situated overlooking the Malahide estuary and has been restyled by Roger Jones into a fabulous estuary type golf course. Evey hole has a different shape and the greens are the most consistant in the Dublin area. Water is a feature on 11 of the 18 holes, the par threes will test any class of golfer and par is not guaranteed. Bellewstown Golf Club is a new championship length parkland course built by the Leonard family on their 150 acre farm which was originally part of the Hilltown Estate. Bray Golf Club is a magnificent USGA-standard parkland course, set in nearly 200 acres, combining stunning scenery with a classic layout. The course has been in play for a little over 2 years and was designed by Des Smyth (Ryder Cup Vice-Captain) and Declan Brannigan. The signature hole is the 11th measuring 320 yards from the White Markers. County Longford Golf Club is located just outside Longford on the Old Dublin Road (the R393) and is only 1 hour from the M50.

This mature 6,700 yard, Par 72 Parkland golf course was originally founded in 1894, but has since been newly redesigned and was officially re-opened in May 2005. A stream comes into play at a number of holes, including the last, so you won't be able to let your guard down until you are safely back in the clubhouse. Courtown Golf Club is a picturesque and challenging golf course, located 5 km from the North Wexford town of Gorey. Founded in 1936, the golf course was upgraded to 18 holes in 1974. Although it's boundaries come within 100 metres of the sea, Courtown is actually a parkland course. Surrounded on three sides by forestry, the course itself boasts hundreds of mature trees. Every fairway is lined to reward the accurate golfer and punish the wayward. The course is a matured par 71, almost 6,000 metres in length. The four par 3s are a feature, particularly the 18th, where a water hazard and threatening out-of-bounds on the left have to be negotiated. For the big hitters, there are three par 5s, including the new dog-leg 9th, an imposing end to the front nine. The remaining par 4s include the 4th, the signature hole, revered both nationally and internationally. With it's panoramic views of the Irish Sea and the beautiful North Wexford coast, it provides a delightful distraction to many a bad round!

In the Clubhouse, take a load off and unwind in the comfortable and relaxed surroundings of the lounge and snug, where Bar food and snacks are available. We in Craddockstown Golf Club are proud of what we have achieved during our short history. We have set out to deliver a top class golfing experience complemented by friendly and efficient service from our administrative bar and catering staff. We hope that your visit will be a memorable and enjoyable one. In March 1991, just under 100 pioneering members signed up and committed to the dream of owning their own course. The Committee bought 142 acre stud farm on the Blessington Road just outside the town of Naas and commissioned Arthur Spring to design an 18-hole golf course.

In 1992, the name of the club was formalised as Craddockstown Golf Club and in 1994 our original course was opened. In 1999, with membership and reputation growing the club opened its clubhouse. [More...]

Delgany Golf Club, Co Wicklow was founded in 1908 and is celebrating it's centenary this year. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and breathtaking scenery with hill and sea views from Bray Head and the Sugarloaf to Wicklow Head. Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club has been in existence since 1962 and golf has been played for over 40 years over the lush rolling tree lined landscape that drains into Dromoland Lough with the Castle as a backdrop. In 2004, course architects, Ron Kirby and the late JB Carr teamed up again following their success at the Old Head of Kinsale - the result is nothing short of spectacular and places Dromoland Castle at the vanguard of "must play" golf destinations on the island of Ireland.

The par-72 course measures a not insignificant 6,824 yards from the back tees and actually plays even longer for a number of reasons. The first reason is that the course has a couple of short par 4s in the 298-yard 9th and 267-yard 15th. These two excellent holes demonstrate that added length is not required to tackle modern technology, as both demand a thoughtful tee shot to avoid the risk of running up a high score. Another factor that lengthens the layout is the use of dog-legs, well-placed bunkers, and fescue rough that places a premium on accuracy, making driver the less-than-optimum choice off several tees. [More...]

This impressive 18 hole Championship golf course has been woven into the fabric of this mature Georgian estate, designed by 1995 Ryder Cup hero, Philip Walton.

Using the natural features of woodland and parkland, adorned by the Multeen River, Philip has created an exhilarating, par 72 course over 7200 yards that provides a real test of golf.  The visual delights of this magnificent setting are many - just a few hundred yards from the banks of the Multeen River, its rich population of mature woodland, and lakes - all set against the backdrop of the Golden Vale of Tipperary. Dungarvan Golf Club is wedged between Cruachán Hill and Dungarvan Harbour and is situated a few driver-lengths from Abbeyside village. The club was set up in the early 1920s when a nine-hole links was laid out on the Cunnigar (a three-mile snd spit which is only a 9-iron distance south of Dungarvan town). Members usually visited the Cunnigar in the boat of John 'The Lord' Duggan, who infamously declared during a stormy crossing, "fear not, for The Lord is with you!" The widespread appeal of the game and the growing membership led to affiliation to the Golfing Union of Ireland in 1924. Alas, coastal erosion and Cunnigar inaccessibility led the club to seek an alternative venue.

In 1929 the club moved to Clonea, playing on farm land beside the Ocean View Hotel (now The Clonea Strand Hotel). A small pavilion was erected to house golf equipment, and the members used the hotel for refreshment and social functions. Golf had taken off in the Déise county; however, a mere seven years later the landowner decided not to renew the lease, so the search for suitable lands began again. Sites in Garranbane, Killosera and Lisfennell were considered, but the members opted for a scenic part of the Stephenson estate in Ballinacourty beside the sea. [More...]

Situated in the historic town of Enniscorthy, the club was founded in 1907 and was extended to 18 holes in 1990. The fairways are generous and the course has many beautiful old trees which will give the golfer that extra degree of difficulty. This parkland course with its gentle undulating fairways affords magnificent views of Wexford's rolling countryside and the Blackstairs Mountains. A very beautiful and testing 18 holes it has been described by course architect, the late Eddie Hackett, as a "joy for the average golfer and a test for the expert". The Championship Course on the Farnham Estate is a stunning parkland course, spread out over 500 acres of rolling meadows and dense woodland. Farnham Estate Golf Course has been ranked 26th Parkland Course in the top 100 courses in Ireland (Golf Digest Ireland 2012).

Designed by Jeff Howes, there's plenty of contrast between the back and front nine. The front nine is gentle but challenging, with undulating meadows, whilst the back nine is a more vigorous test of golf, travelling as it does through more dense woodland. Bunkers are well positioned and, in the main, large and dead flat. Ryder Cup star Christy made sure to incorporate rewards for the well played shot in his design, however anything astray at the wrong hole will be treated with the contempt it deserves. One of our many features at Glasson includes the 15th, a par 3 which will undoubtedly become one of the most photographed holes in Irish Golf. Recently developed from a 9 hole to and 18 hole championship length course with unrivaled view of Ocean and Helvick Head. The original 9 holes were planted in 1939, and these trees have grown tall and thick. The mature tree line lined fairways of the older holes are cleverly mingled with the long and challenging newer holes.

The 256 yards first gets a most enjoyable round off to a challenging start, for this is one of the original holes and is lined on both sides of the fairway by trees. [More...]

Gowran Park Golf Course is set in 130 acres of mature woodland, with the magnificent backdrop of the Blackstairs Mountains. This par 71, 18 hole parkland course provides an excellent test for all golfers. The tree=lined fairways and superb greens are complimented by various water hazards, lakes and streams. The 15th is arguably the most picturesque hole on the course - no bunkers, no water - just a corridor of fairway caught between two rows of mature tall trees. The signature hole is the 4th, which is based on the 13th hole at Augusta. Playing to 100ft trees in the distance, you have to avoid the trees to the right and the creek to the left: expect to play your second shot over the creek surrounding the green - a true index 2 hole.

Hermitage Golf Club has been a feature of West Dublin since 1905.

Hermitage is situated a mere five miles (8 Kms.) from the city centre. It is bordered on one side by the arterial N4 national route and on the other by the meandering River Liffey. This course of rolling parklands is within the part of the beautiful Liffey Valley known as the Strawberry Beds, a Dublin landmark made famous in song and story. The philosophy in developing the course was to ensure that a comparison with the existing Palmer Ryder Course would be difficult and that the golfers experience would be completely different. Killeen golf course was designed in 1980. Since then the course has undergone many changes both in size and design to get it to the high USGA standard that it is at today.

With the purchase of extra land in 1990 the team of Tom Craddock and Pat Ruddy were brought in to completely redesign the layout. The Ring of Kerry Golf & Country Club is located amidst the most stunning scenery imaginable. Stepaside Golf Course is a nine hole public golf course that opened for business in the early 1980's. The facility was one of the first of its kind to be opened in County Dublin.

Beaverstown Golf Club presents golfers with one of the most unique challenges in modern golf.  It's design makes the best use of its many natural features - the shores of Rogerstown estuary in North County Dublin, 6 lakes, 36 acres of mature apple trees and a stream which meanders through the course.  The orchards, in fact, border the tees, fairways and undulating greens on 8 of the holes, while the streams and lakes come into play on 12 holes.

Of particular note is the 411-yard 14th hole.  Already acclaimed as a wonderful addition to the course, this newly-aligned par 4 is arguably the feature hole at Beaverstown. Only a well-hit drive will allow the player to reach the green with a medium iron over a menacing stream. Black Bush Golf Club is a 27 hole parkland course which was founded in 1988.

All 27 holes have undergone extensive drainage work which enables golfers to play year round.

The three nines allow the club to run member only competitions and welcome visitors at the same time. The club's motto is "Sport agus Cairdeas" which is Sport and Friendship.

Measuring 6,800 yards from the blue tees, the course is beautifully designed with seven lakes and a number of streams featuring throughout. Set amid the backdrop of the picturesque Dublin Mountains and located just ten minutes from the M50, Grange Castle provides golfers of all abilities with a truly testing and enjoyable golfing experience in a wonderful parkland setting.

The Par 72 course has been developed to championship standard. The greens have been developed to United States Golfing Association (USGA) specification and have been the subject of much praise from visiting golfers and societies since the course opened.

Set in the Dublin Countryside Hollystown Golf was opened in 1992 to wide acclaim as a fine addition to the Irish Golf Scene. Designed by the late Eddie Hackett this mature parkland setting is blessed with the natural features of trees, lakes and streams.

An extension to the facilities of an additional nine holes, was opened in August 1999 complementing the existing eighteen holes. This has created three loops of nine holes and provides three distinctly different 18-hole combinations each offering a unique challenge to all golfing standards.
