Mount Juliet Golf Club - 1st Tee  [Co. Kilkenny]

When Jack Nicklaus was asked to design and build the 18-hole signature course at Mount Juliet, he created one of Europe’s most renowned courses. The outstanding parkland facility takes full advantage of the natural beauty of the estate, dominated by magnificent specimen trees and river scenery.

This testing par 72 course offers a most enjoyable golfing experience to players of all standards. Mount Juliet has hosted the Irish Open on three occasions and was the venue for the Shell Wonderful World of Golf event. At the WGC – American Express Championship 2002 at Mount Juliet, 49 of the top 50 golfers in the world took part, including overall winner, Tiger Woods. In 2004, Mount Juliet once again hosted the WGC – American Express Championship where on this occasion, Ernie Els was the deserving victor.

The unique 18-hole, par 53 putting course is the venue for the National Putting Championship with holes of up to 36 yards in length and featuring bunkers and water hazards. The resident PGA Professionals offer a complete range of tailor-made golf services including individual and group tuition, clinics and event management. Academy facilities include covered and uncovered driving bays, practice bunkers, chipping and putting greens and three full-size holes.

From the M50 (Red Cow) Roundabout: take the N7 towards Naas. You are now on the Naas Dual Carraigeway heading southbound. About ½ an hour later take the slip road off the motorway for Carlow(M9). Drive into the village of Castledermot and follow the bypass to Waterford. Follow the signs for Waterford through Thomastown, there is a one-way system in operation. Follow road right over the bridge.

About 1 mile outside Thomastown, just past Jerpoint Abbey there is a right turn opposite a grotto for Mount Juliet. The Oldtown Gate (golf entrance) to Mount Juliet is located up this road about 1 mile, on the right hand side.
